 This scheme of work is designed to complement our planning for the National Curriculum to provide extra support and guidance in teaching the programmes of study using a range of strategies and methods. All of the lessons can be taught in sequence or you can choose individual lessons to help the children master particular aspects of the curriculum.If you have suggestions for other resources that we can add to this section then please drop us a message. Maths Champion - Year Three - Addition
Practise using mental and written methods to add three digit numbers and hundreds, tens and ones including informal columnar addition techniques

Recommended Teaching Group: Year 3
Teaching Focus: Whole Class, Individual, Pairs, Group

Use number facts and counting on to add pairs of multiples of one hundred

Number Pairs
Use number facts and place value to identify pairs of numbers that sum to different totals

Number Jumps
Practise using number lines to record how to add three digit numbers and ones

Use rounding and compensation to add three digit numbers and ones

Passenger Numbers
Use concrete equipment, diagrams and columnar addition to add three and two digit numbers not crossing one hundred

Use an expanded column addition method to add pairs of three digit numbers
