Resources English Steps - Year Two - Traditional Fables
Resource Preview Reading Text Selection
Choose a range of fables that utilise animals as the main characters telling a story to impart a moral message. You will need to read the individual fables to the class before starting each unit of work.

You will need to edit some of the activities for this unit to match the selected text such as adding names of characters and locations. Most of the teaching resources can be used without any editing to support the teaching of the chosen text.

Identify and record the sequence of events in a traditional fable

Select and define the meaning of vocabulary to describe characters in a fable

Discuss and record changes to the narrative structure of a fable when selecting alternative plot events

Identify and match words with le endings that can be used to describe characters in traditional fables

Practise correcting words in sentences about different fables with le endings

Identify and correct the spelling of words with the /i:/ sound spelt ey

     Resource Preview Lesson 8: Story Steps
Select and spell words ending in y to describe the sequence of events in a fable
