Resources Winter Weather
Resource Preview The season of winter provides an excellent opportunity to develop the children's skills working through all subject areas in the National Curriculum. The class can practise their enquiry skills in science by examining the effect of winter on different materials. The children can explore changes to the physical state of water during this time of year. They can investigate how the weather can affect animals who need to adapt to the harsh winter conditions in Britain and other climate zones around the world.

Working in art and design, the children can practise representing changes to the natural world during the winter using a range of different media to create the effect of a wintry day. The class can try combining materials to make models and sculptures of snowflakes. The children can develop their design technology skills by building feeding stations to provide food to animals during the winter. In music, the children can explore how to use pentatonic scales to create compositions reflecting snow falling on a winter's day
