Resources Summer Sports
Resource Preview Fine and sunny summer weather provides an excellent opportunity to get the children out of the classroom and into the fresh air to develop and practise skills in sports and games that can't be played in the school hall. The class can try their hand at more traditional summer sports such as cricket, tennis and badminton or they can investigate how to use orienteering and problem solving skills in a range of outdoor pursuits.

You can also get the children to practise their athletic skills across different disciplines as preparation for a school sports day. Older children can develop their skills in more traditional athletics such as sprinting, hurdling and throwing whereas younger children can try out some of the more unusual athletic activities such as the egg and spoon, sack race and wheelbarrow. You can also meet up with other classes on the school field or playground to allow the children to share skills that they have explored in different sports.
