Resources Story Telling
Resource Preview Teaching activities to help the children practise their story telling skills using drama, role-play and oral language. Reading is a core skill that the children need to develop fully during their time in primary school. Reading opens up the whole curriculum and can support the children's fluency and abilities in writing. The children need to develop their knowledge and understanding of different types of fiction, non-fiction and poetry texts which will support their learning in all subjects.

You can use story telling activities to help the children demonstrate their understanding about how narrative stories can be structured and formatted. Story telling will support the children's developments in drama and oral language as they will need to perform a particular story. Reading a story to others can also develop the children's social skills as they will have to focus closely on how they interact and work with others. It will help the class build strong friendships and relationships with other children in the school.
