Resources Outdoor Classroom
Resource Preview Lesson plans and activities to help the children compose and perform poems to illustrate different Easter themes and ideas. The children could select events and vocabulary to use in poems with different forms such as list poems, Kennings and Haikus. The class can use dictionaries and thesauruses to choose powerful vocabulary to describe the shape, size and texture of Easter eggs as part of a poem with patterned language.

The children can explore different ways to present their poems such as attempting to write the verses on the outside of a hard boiled egg or they could create crosses using palms which can then be inscribed with the lines from a poem. The class can also practise rehearsing their poems ready for a performance as part of a whole school assembly. The children can also use tablet computer to record readings of their poems which can then be shared across the school computer network.

Resource Preview Birds and Insects
Lesson plan and teaching activities to help the children identify and count numbers of birds and insects found living in the school grounds. The children can use a simple key to record different animals that they have identified in the outdoors.

Resource Preview Map Routes
Physical Education lesson plan to help the children use a map to identify locations in the school grounds. The children can practise following a simple route round the outdoors using position and direction vocabulary when moving around the outdoors.

Resource Preview Plant Variation
Science lesson plan to help the children explore the types and variety of flowering plants that are growing around the school. The class can create a map showing the location of different plants that can be found in the outdoors.

Resource Preview Plant Measurements
Maths lesson plan to help the children measure and record lengths of different parts of a plant in centimetres. The children can estimate suitable lengths for different parts of a plant for working outdoors to practically measure lengths of different plants. .

Resource Preview School Landscape
Art and Design lesson plan to help the children create a painting of the school to reflect a special time of the day. The class can e use sketching skills to outline their artwork before working in paint to mix colour shades to represent different parts of the landscape. .
