Resources Halloween
Resource Preview Halloween provides an excellent opportunity to develop the skills in different curriculum areas by firing up their imagination and enthusiasm for witches, wizards and pumpkins. Working in English, the children can devise instructions about how to carve different shapes into a pumpkin as well as writing poems about some of the spooky happenings on Halloween. The class can investigate stories with a spooky themes to help them produce their own versions. In Maths, the children can calculate the costs of buying items needed for a Halloween party. They can also produce a timetable showing the timing of events for their Halloween night celebrations.

Working in art and design, the children can practise using different techniques and materials to produce decorations for a Halloween party The class can explore how to print Halloween shapes on pumpkins. In music, the children can compose theme tunes to match their chosen costumes for Halloween or they could write raps to sing when out trick or treating.


Resource Preview Pumpkin People
Teaching activities to get the children to select and combine materials to convert pumpkins into story characters. The children can shape materials to make hats, hair and facial features to build up a specific Halloween character.

Resource Preview Halloween Pine Cones
Art and Design lesson plan to help the children combine colours and shapes to produce a Halloween ornament. The children can discuss vocabulary that can be used to describe Halloween themes.

English scheme of work to help the children write and follow instructions to make decorations to display in a haunted house to celebrate Halloween. The children can then test the instructions working in an art and design lesson.

Maths lesson plan to help the children use the grid method to multiply three by one digit numbers. The class can use place value of digits in numbers to support their calculations.
