Resources Easter Poems
Resource Preview Lesson plans and activities to help the children compose and perform poems to illustrate different Easter themes and ideas. The children could select events and vocabulary to use in poems with different forms such as list poems, Kennings and Haikus. The class can use dictionaries and thesauruses to choose powerful vocabulary to describe the shape, size and texture of Easter eggs as part of a poem with patterned language.

The children can explore different ways to present their poems such as attempting to write the verses on the outside of a hard boiled egg or they could create crosses using palms which can then be inscribed with the lines from a poem. The class can also practise rehearsing their poems ready for a performance as part of a whole school assembly. The children can also use tablet computer to record readings of their poems which can then be shared across the school computer network.
