Resources Bonfire Night
Resource Preview Bonfire Night provides an excellent opportunity to get the children to develop and practise skills in all National Curriculum subject areas on the theme of fireworks and the historic events surrounding the date of the fifth of November. Working in history, the children can investigate and role-play the plot by Guido Fawkes to blow up the Houses of Parliament. The class can explore reasons for the actions of Fawkes and identify the consequences of his actions.

Fireworks provide an excellent basis for a number of art projects. The children can practise techniques working with different media to simulate fireworks bursting in the the sky. Working in music, the children can compose and perform a composition to reflect the sounds of a firework display and the crackle of a bonfire. In English, the class can develop their use of figurative language to compile poems using simile and metaphor to describe some of the sights and sounds of bonfire night.
